Autumn is one of the best season to visit Japan. The reason is Autumn leaves.
Nikko Autumn Leaves Spot
Nikko is also a great place to see Autumn leaves. Actually, this season, between October and November is the most crowded. When tourists go sightseeing in Nikko, they generally take a bus to go to autumn leaves spots. ( Chuzenji-Lake, Irohazaka Winding Road, etc.)
Irohazaka Winding Road Autumn Leaves
But unfortunately, most use the same way, so the traffic is really heavy. Sometimes it takes 3 or 4 hours to go to Chuzenji-Lake from Nikko station via bus.For a tourist who is considering “a one day trip” from Tokyo to Nikko, it might be difficult to come back to Tokyo on the same day with the same transport mode.
Are you giving up on the idea of going to Nikko to see beautiful autumn leaves? If so, I suggest that you to change your perspective.
